The origami exhibition. I really like the abstract ones.
A couple of the sillier origami displays: Origami Godzilla, and sci-fi origami (you can see the Enterprise, the Millennium Falcon, Darth Vader vs. Obi-Wan Kenobi, an X-Wing and TIE fighter, and other stuff)
The paper dolls. The label on the first reads "Hosaku Matsuri: Harvest Festival".
The iaido demonstration. It wasn't as interesting to watch as I'd hoped, but I took a few pictures anyway and they turned out pretty good.
I like how this turned out. Even though it isn't a great action pose, I think the rain makes it look almost like a painting.
I only took one picture of the tea ceremony. It seemed disrespectful to do it while it was really underway. It would've seemed like interrupting somebody else's conversation. Anyway, this is the "guest", seated, before they had gotten properly underway:
My bowl of tea. I'd already taken a few sips before getting the bright idea to take a picture of it.
I got a guy to take a picture of me drinking. It was really tasty.
The wushu demonstration. I didn't crop the first one, so you could kind of get a feel for what the peace plaza stage was like.
Just a random pic of the food concessions. I like the little old man cartoon character, tossing popcorn out of the bowl like beans to ward away evil spirits.
The end of the SF Nippon-to Society's performance. I kinda wish I'd gotten a shot of them doing tameshi-giri (cutting down bamboo), but that's a tough thing to shoot so it looks like much of anything. Not much going on here, but I love the little kid's ninja costume.
I'll be going to the taiko performance on Saturday night. I would like to go back to the festival this Sunday, because it's the last day, with the big parade. Plus there's a kendo exhibition. However, that's also the day of the conlanging conference at Cal, and there are a couple of seminars there that sound interesting (plus, it may never happen again). I'm kinda torn. And I need to decide soon, because I would need to register for the conference. What to do...
