Lots of sliding around barefoot on a gym floor. You eventually get blisters, and then the blisters pop.

I've actually had worse than this (Aikido Regionals in Denver a while back, the mats were carpeted and gave me rug burns that looked more like road rash), but it still stings like blazes.
